Ashley Park faces criticism for showing disrespect towards the newly elected Pope, Pope Leo XIV, as seen in a video she posted while filming Emily in Paris in Rome.
In the video, she playfully ridiculed and chuckled at the new Pope, hinting that people weren’t interested. Park appeared to be in high spirits as she made light of not grasping the excitement surrounding the election. “Does anyone really care?” she casually questioned her team while getting ready for her glam session.
In a playful manner, hair and makeup artist Carole Nicolas remarks, “Wonderful!” With a chuckle, Park joins in, along with Parizhair, the hairstylist. Addison O’Connor, the content creator, also laughs, sharing the moment with the actress and her team.
As a devoted admirer, I chimed in with a light-hearted comment: “I’m here, and I couldn’t help but notice the church bells pealing!” However, Park’s jest didn’t sit well with many online viewers, and they voiced their disapproval. One user on platform X expressed their sentiment bluntly: “How appalling! Both inside and out, she’s just plain ugly.
In a passionate outburst as an ardent fan, I felt compelled to express, “She really needs to issue an apology for her actions!” Yet, there were others who rallied around her, defending her actions. One individual even argued that merely asking if someone cared wasn’t all that offensive. However, this user took it a step further with a witty remark, saying, “If you can read this and still feel offended, then I guess you should laugh at Jesus and any other false deity you worship!
On Thursday, May 8, it was announced that Pope Leo was chosen to succeed the late Pope Francis, making him the very first American leader of the Roman Church throughout its history. One person responded, “That’s not being disrespectful. You all are really stretching things here,” expressing their viewpoint.
In relation to Park, she’s currently working on the eagerly awaited new season of Netflix’s popular romantic comedy series “Emily in Paris.” The actress will be playing her character Mindy once more, alongside Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, and other talented cast members.
Emily in Paris season 5 is set to premiere later in 2025.
