Elton John Reveals How He Helped John Lennon And Yoko Ono Reconcile In New Documentary At TIFF 2024; Deets

As an ardent music enthusiast who has lived through the golden era of rock and roll, I find myself utterly captivated by the revelation that Elton John played a pivotal role in reuniting the iconic couple, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This fascinating tale is yet another testament to the profound connections formed within the world of music, where friendships often transcend time and space.

Among the most cherished couples in history are John Lennon and Yoko Ono. For a brief period, they parted ways, but as Elton John has just disclosed, it was through his intervention that they eventually reunited later on.

In the recently debuted documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late,” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, the renowned artist, Tiny Maker, shared some anecdotes about his professional life and friendships.

Speaking about his reconciliation with Yoko Ono, John Lennon shared details of a 1974 concert.

On Thanksgiving Day, John performed a concert at Madison Square Garden. That’s where Yoko and he reunited, having been apart for nearly 18 months.

As a keen supporter, I’d like to share that I might have played a role in reuniting John and Yoko. In his own words, it was perhaps due to my invitation for him to perform at the 1974 Thanksgiving Day show that he reconnected with Yoko Ono once more.

According to Inside Hook, during his documentary, Elton John shared that John Lennon was not aware of Yoko Ono attending the same concert as him. However, Elton spoke warmly about their reunion and the birth of their son afterwards.

Absolutely! They reunited again and yes, Sean Lennon was part of that magical moment,” I excitedly shared about my beloved band.

According to Elton John, it was shared that John Lennon rediscovered love and his more reckless tendencies subsided as time passed. In contrast, the singer of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” gave up drugs and other wild behaviors, while Elton John humorously admitted he didn’t follow suit in quitting his own unconventional habits.

1966 marked the year when John Lennon and Yoko Ono first crossed paths in London. Three years on, in 1969, their bond was formalized with a marriage ceremony in Gibraltar. Regrettably, they parted ways in 1973.

1974 marked the return of Yoko Ono to her music career after a break of approximately 18 months. Following this hiatus, she reunited with John Lennon. The following year, in 1975, they welcomed their son Sean together in October.

Elton John: Never Too Late will be premiered on Disney+ on December 13, 2024.
