Elon Musk’s Former Girlfriend Grimes Reveals Autism and ADHD Diagnoses; Here’s All We Know

This year, it was revealed that musician Claire Elise Boucher, also known as Grimes and formerly Elon Musk’s girlfriend, has been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and autism. This news has prompted her to reflect on her own childhood experiences and battles with mental health issues.

On March 22nd, in a recent update (previously known as Twitter), Grimes mentioned that she might have dyslexia, suggesting it as a reason for her persistent struggles with spelling throughout her life. She expressed that an earlier diagnosis could have had a substantial impact on the course of her life.

This year, Boucher was diagnosed with ADHD/autism and suspects that he may also be dyslexic, explaining his poor spelling abilities without the use of a spell-check tool.

She believes that, looking back, her behavior might have been labeled as requiring medication and stigmatized, but in reality, it served as the driving force behind her creativity and success.

In simpler terms, the singer expressed, “If I had learned this back when I was young, I might not have worked as tirelessly, developed unhealthy habits like drug use, and many of my unusual drives and compulsions could have been recognized as problematic. However, I’m grateful for having overcome those challenges, even though I suspect I may have fallen into drug abuse too.

Boucher recalled the signs of ADHD that she often displayed, with these traits becoming much more intense whenever she didn’t read every day.

The performer voiced some critiques towards specific digital resources on mental health, which she feels undermine beneficial practices like reading – practices she considers essential for managing ADHD and self-guided education.

A social media account focused on ADHD seems to be criticizing something beneficial for children with ADHD, like self-learning, which can actually help manage ADHD symptoms and make them more knowledgeable – it’s just so unfortunate… I find it hard to express my thoughts further.

Equipped with a neuroscience degree and fluency in Russian from McGill University, Boucher grew concerned about the rising incidence of ADHD diagnoses in children and the widespread use of stimulant drugs. She pondered if this trend might be contributing to declining literacy levels and emphasized the need for a thoughtful approach when addressing this issue.
