Elon Musk is facing criticism for a recent post on his platform, X. He shared a video created using artificial intelligence that copied the face of actress Sydney Sweeney. While intended to showcase improvements to X’s video features, the post has sparked public backlash.
Entertainment Weekly reports that a video features a digitally created version of actress Alison Sweeney aboard a spaceship, discussing new technology. Elon Musk shared that the videos have been shortened to ten seconds and now have improved audio quality. Interestingly, despite not being specifically instructed to do so, the AI used Sweeney’s image in the clip.

This isn’t the first time Elon Musk has made a comment about Taylor Swift. Recently, he made an insensitive joke about her appearance after seeing photos from a red carpet event. He posted an AI-generated video that mocked her body shape and implied she might have back pain, adding the caption “Can’t be easy,” which many fans found disturbing and strange.
Elon Musk’s company, xAI, is facing a legal investigation. California Attorney General Rob Bonta launched the probe due to concerns about the creation of inappropriate and fake images of women and children without their consent. Bonta described the reports as deeply disturbing and has demanded that xAI address the issue right away.
European authorities are paying close attention to X. The European Union is looking into whether the platform is violating online safety regulations, specifically regarding harmful content generated by artificial intelligence. While X claims to be working on blocking such content, recent investigations have revealed that users are still able to use the platform’s tools to create explicit images of individuals without their consent.
Even with all the recent online attention, Sydney Sweeney is continuing to focus on her acting career. She recently appeared in the popular film “The Housemaid” and has several exciting projects on the horizon. She’s been cast in a live-action “Gundam” movie for Netflix, where she’ll play a pilot alongside Noah Centineo, and will also star in a new movie called “Scandalous.” Plus, she’s expected to return for the third season of “Euphoria” when it’s made.
So far, neither Sweeney nor anyone from X has responded to the new video. A lot of people are curious to see if the actress will speak out about her image being used without permission. This situation points to a bigger issue in Hollywood: celebrities increasingly have to protect control over their own likenesses.
