As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood and its influential stars, I must say that Elliot Page’s journey is truly inspiring. His transformation, both personally and professionally, is a testament to his courage and resilience. Having witnessed his evolution from Michael Peterson in Inception to Viktor Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy, it’s evident that he has found a role that not only resonates with him but also allows him to use his platform for good.
Preparing for the last chapter of the TV series “Umbrella Academy,” star Elliot Page reflects on the personal influence the show has had, particularly in helping him navigate his own transition. In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Page also discussed the impact the show has had on viewers and his feelings about his character’s journey towards self-acceptance.
Elliot Page on his experience as Viktor on the show
In regards to his character’s reintroduction on the show as Viktor Hargreeves, Page explained that the significant change for him has been having numerous experiences since he announced his identity as transgender, and especially during his recent time on T hormone therapy. The star of Close to You publicly revealed his transgender status in December 2020, and being recast as Viktor made him feel more comfortable acting.
In the interview, Page expressed that the change is remarkably noticeable and delightful. She also hopes to carry on experiencing and observing its effects on her job.
The discussion continues about Viktor’s transformation over the course of different seasons, culminating in the scene where he confronts his adoptive father, Reginald Hargreeves. Reflecting on how the character initially struggled to form relationships, the actor finds it rewarding to observe his progression. He commented that while there are still areas for improvement, such as managing his anger, Viktor is clearly making progress. The actor also noted that Viktor’s newfound sense of “self-worth” is a significant development in his character arc.
In the end, the actor hopes to see the fans connect with the siblings on-screen.
The Umbrella Academy’s final season
The TV series “The Umbrella Academy” follows the storyline of a peculiar family, made up of adopted siblings who possess extraordinary abilities. Despite their strained relationships and personal conflicts, they unite to solve the mystery surrounding their father’s demise. Inspired by a comic book with the same title, the characters were not initially diverse; however, the television adaptation has introduced a variety of ethnically diverse characters. Actress Emmy Raver-Lampman, who portrays Allison on the show, expressed to PEOPLE that one of her favorite aspects is the inclusive representation, allowing many viewers to find themselves reflected in the on-screen personalities.
