Elle Fanning turned heads with a recent outfit that beautifully blended old-world glamour and contemporary fashion. She wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown with a striking, fitted corset that accentuated her figure. The lilac silk dress also featured delicate, pearl-covered straps, a nod to Catherine the Great’s well-known fondness for pearls.
I was just scrolling through Dakota Fanning’s Instagram and saw the story behind her dress for the Independent Spirit Awards! Apparently, Vivienne and Andreas Westwood reached out to her about creating a gown inspired by Catherine the Great‘s obsession with pearls. And honestly, who doesn’t love a Vivienne Westwood corset? She said no one does them better, and I totally agree! She even added a little planet emoji – a sweet nod to the Westwood brand’s logo.

As a total film and fashion obsessive, I have to say Dakota Fanning absolutely nailed her look! The dress really showed how she can pull off both delicate, dreamy styles and something totally bold and cutting-edge. Everyone—fans and fashion pros alike—was talking about it, especially the corset and all the gorgeous pearl details. It felt both historical and incredibly current, which is a tough balance to strike!
Wow, what a year for Fanning! I was so blown away by her performance as Rachel Kemp in Sentimental Value – everyone’s talking about how incredibly versatile she is. And then she completely switched gears and took on two roles in Predator: Badlands as both Thia and Tessa! It’s amazing to see her tackle such physically demanding and different parts. She’s really proving what a talented actress she is.
Fanning will star as a young Effie Trinket in the upcoming film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, with Kieran Culkin and Joseph Zada. She recently showcased her acting skills on Broadway, appearing in the play Appropriate alongside Sarah Paulson, demonstrating her versatility as a performer.
Elle Fanning consistently proves her versatility, effortlessly moving between high-fashion appearances and compelling roles in both action and dramatic projects.
