Elizabeth Olsen Teases Her Return as Wanda Yet Again

As a long-time Marvel fan with a soft spot for complex characters, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity regarding the potential return of Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch. Her journey from villain to hero, marked by pain, loss, and redemption, has been one of the most captivating storylines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, was introduced late into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and initially portrayed as a villain, she eventually emerged as one of the most cherished and well-regarded characters across the entire MCU. Furthermore, her storyline is often considered to be among the strongest and most captivating in the entire Marvel franchise.

In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” it appears Wanda’s story may have reached its conclusion, as she seemingly perished; however, “Agatha All Along” hinted at this but used the term “gone” rather than “died” when discussing Wanda. Despite this, there have been many whispers suggesting her possible comeback.

The actress herself has stated that she’s open to reprising her role, yet the circumstances surrounding Wanda remain ambiguous. However, her latest remarks hint towards a possible return, albeit with no official confirmation being permitted.

In the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” it appears that Wanda meets her demise. Following the events of “WandaVision,” a distraught and tormented Wanda transformed into a villain, bent on destroying the world. This malevolent Wanda was ultimately challenged by Doctor Strange, who successfully defeated her in an intense battle, leading many to believe that one of the MCU’s strongest characters has perished. Since then, Wanda has not been seen within the MCU.

In the show “Agatha All Along,” there appeared a body resembling Wanda’s, suggesting she had passed away. However, instead of using the word “died,” they used “gone.” This was not a mistake, but a deliberate choice as confirmed by the series’ team. This implies that Wanda might not truly be dead and could potentially return in the future.

Based on the latest gossip we’ve shared, it seems this aligns with what we’ve been hearing, despite the inconsistencies. Earlier reports hinted at a standalone Scarlet Witch film in production – some suggested it was a prequel or connected to the upcoming Avengers movies. However, just as quickly as these rumors emerged, they were reportedly abandoned. Then, whispers about Wanda Maximoff playing a key role in Doomsday and Secret Wars started circulating, and truthfully, we’re still unsure about any of it.

During a recent Q&A, Elizabeth Olsen was asked about Wanda’s return and the actress might have cleared things up a bit:

To put it frankly, if I were to reveal my true desires for the character, it might ruin something special. However, Kevin Feige seems to have a knack for asking us what we’d like and then delivering exactly that [Laughs]. So, I’m afraid I can’t divulge too much…All I can say is, I truly hope I get another chance to be a part of this amazing universe.

According to reports, it seems that’s the case – there are whispers, but nothing definite has been verified yet. As for Olsen, her eagerness to reprise her role is evident, as suggested by these declarations, given her unique bond with the character.

I really enjoy revisiting this character when she’s used effectively, and I feel fortunate that I was utilized well initially. For a moment there, they seemed unsure what to do with me! If there’s a good opportunity to use her again, I’m all for it. (…) I believe so. I assume as much. Yes, and there was a point where I felt an intense, explosive energy – I think I may have perished. I would plead to keep a door open. I had a fantastic time working on these films. I’d like to find a clever way to be undead. We need intelligent writers to help us make sense of it all. I’m open to suggestions.
