As a dedicated Marvel fan who has witnessed Wanda Maximoff’s transformation from a supporting character to a key player in the Avengers, I eagerly await her potential return to the MCU. While her departure was heartbreaking, I believe that every great character deserves a second chance, and Wanda is no exception.
In the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film titled “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the character known as Scarlet Witch appeared for the first time, serving as a secondary villain. Since then, the character portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, who goes by Wanda Maximoff, has grown to become an essential member of the Avengers team. Her contributions have been substantial, and she was even given her own separate series, named “WandaVision.
In addition, she played a crucial role in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” a film where Doctor Strange fought her in an effort to save our familiar world, symbolizing the end of her metamorphosis into evil. Since then, fans have been speculating about when and how Wanda might reappear following her death during that battle.
Lately, there have been whispers about a standalone Scarlet Witch film and its supposed postponement, along with speculations of her possible reappearance in Agatha All Along. Although nothing concrete has been disclosed yet, Elizabeth Olsen recently hinted at a potential comeback in the MCU.
Since her exit, fans have been speculating about the possibility of Scarlet Witch reappearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the disappointing execution of the second Doctor Strange film, Scarlet Witch’s character development was exceptional within the MCU, and it seems a pity to let such a well-loved character fade away without making good use of her storyline.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but ponder over the prospect of Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Wanda. Intriguingly, she herself has shed some light on this topic during an engaging chat with FM 104, expressing her thoughts in these words:
It’s a character I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well and I think I’ve been lucky when I started I was used well… and they kind of didn’t know what to do with me for a second there! If there’s a good way to use her, I’m always happy to come back.

It’s clear that Elizabeth Olsen is open to reprising her role, but she needs a strong plot. A standalone Scarlet Witch film might not happen, but there’s a possibility, however slight, of her appearing in Agatha All Along. There’s also the chance for her character to be featured in upcoming multiverse storylines and the planned Vision series, so we’ll have to wait and see.
There’s definitely room for Wanda to return, but given the progression of her story so far, Marvel will need to craft an exceptional narrative for any upcoming project where Wanda appears. Ideally, they should give her a meaningful and impactful role. We’re eagerly waiting for this to happen as soon as possible – we can’t wait to see Wanda again!
