Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have pushed back the release of Elden Ring on the Nintendo Switch 2 to 2026. They need the extra time to optimize the game’s performance on the new console.
The Switch 2 version of the game, known as the Tarnished Edition, includes both the full game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Players will also get a new armor set and ways to customize their spectral steed, Torrent, but those extras will also be released for players on other gaming systems.
FromSoftware games aren’t always perfectly optimized, so the delay is likely a positive thing for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, even though it means they’ll have to wait a little longer to play.
