After quite some time since the original release of Elden Ring, there’s now anticipation for the upcoming Elden Ring: Nightreign. For Nintendo Switch owners who may have missed out on playing it before, Nintendo and FromSoftware are planning to offer them an opportunity with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which was unveiled during today’s Switch 2 Direct presentation.

The game is set to release sometime in 2025, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, and it comes with an additional Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. To enhance this version even more, FromSoftware has incorporated a unique new feature along with two fresh armor sets. One of these armor sets might spark recognition among fans of Dark Souls 2.

Close Enough, Welcome Back Lucatiel

In an earlier tweet today, the Elden Ring Twitter account showcased two armor sets. One of them features a tricorn hat, red pants, a cotton shirt, and brown gloves that might look ordinary at first sight. However, seasoned FromSoftware fans will recognize it as strikingly similar to the armor Lucatiel dons in Dark Souls 2 (as seen in the picture provided).

Stricken by a malady, Lucatiel makes her debut at No Man’s Wharf, heading towards Drangleic in search of a remedy. Her affliction breeds concern about the potential loss of her memories, and whether she’ll be remembered when she transforms Hollow. She is one of the game’s more amiable characters, and can even be called upon for several boss battles.

In the upcoming days, Lucatiel’s armor will join Elden Ring. Now, we can carry a remnant of Lucatiel as we embark on a fresh journey, ensuring that her memory remains ever-present – a heartwarming touch indeed.

It’s good news for console users other than Nintendo Switch 2 owners: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition’s new content won’t be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. You can expect to get the new armor sets and Torrent customization as extra “downloadable content” on other platforms, but FromSoftware hasn’t confirmed whether there will be a cost associated with it yet.
