Elden Ring Nightreign is finally adding its missing duos mode on July 30

Although it’s undeniable that Elden Ring, developed by Nightreign, has been a resounding success with its 5 million players, there was one notable drawback in the co-op spinoff: the absence of duos. However, we now have good news! The two-player mode is set to be introduced with patch 1.02, which will be available in just under a week.

Bandai Namco has unveiled the forthcoming dual expeditions, as demonstrated by their official trailer for two-player mode. This feature has been conspicuously absent, and now it’s back, much to the delight of gamers. Prior to Nightreign’s release, even game director Junya Ishizaki admitted that not catering to a single player or a group of three was an oversight.

Ishizaki mentioned, “Initially, we may have underestimated and paid less attention to the pairings aspect. However, it’s a factor we are now examining and taking into account for our future updates and support after the launch.

For now, we’ve been placing ourselves in the hands of the matchmaking system, hoping for some relaxed Nightreign gaming sessions with a friend. However, this means we sometimes end up as an unwanted third wheel in someone else’s game. It can be challenging when one random player disrupts a run, but the extra uncertainty can make it less enjoyable when all we want is some casual Nightlord hunting with our buddy.

Unofficial solutions have emerged as we’ve been anticipating official endorsement. Just hours after its release, the renowned creator of Seamless Co-op mod, Yui, unveiled an intuitive Nightreign duos mod. The downside is that it employs a distinct save file to shield users from potential repercussions by Bandai Namco’s online services. This means you’ll have to manage two separate collections of relics and unlocks.

Fortunately, it won’t be long before we can experience the official two-player mode, which is coming soon with Nightreign patch 1.02. This update introduces duo expeditions and enhances user interface (UI) by offering more filtering options for Relics. The timing couldn’t be more convenient: it arrives right when we’re preparing to confront the upcoming Everdark Sovereigns. It seems as though they’ve coordinated these updates quite strategically.
