At last, the highly anticipated duos mod for Elden Ring Nightreign is on its way, and gamers won’t have to endure a long wait before they can enjoy it.
On July 30, 2025, FromSoftware will roll out a two-player mode for Elden Ring Nightreign, in response to numerous player requests since its release. This new feature, titled Duo Expeditions, is part of Patch 1.02 and offers well-balanced co-op gameplay for exactly two players.
Initially, Nightreign was designed for solo gameplay or groups of three; this excluded two-player team options. This aspect received significant criticism from the gaming community, particularly from those accustomed to playing as duos.
Initially, the game permitted trios consisting of two fixed players plus a random third one. However, it was not well-structured or balanced for a seamless two-player experience. The upcoming Patch 1.02 aims to fill this void by incorporating a cooperative mode that has been specifically developed with duos in mind.
Duos mode comes to Elden Ring Nightreign
Alongside the new Duo Expeditions, the latest update also introduces a host of user-friendly enhancements. Among these is an innovative relic sorting mechanism designed to streamline player inventory management while on expeditions. This way, they can optimize their loadouts with greater efficiency.

Since its debut on May 30, 2025, Nightreign has undergone two significant upgrades, with this being the second one. The previous update enhanced the Wending Grace system, enabling players to hold more resuscitation items and guaranteeing that all vendors had the necessary resource in stock.
It appears that FromSoftware hasn’t disclosed any new content or expansion details yet, but Nightreign consistently gets updates to maintain its balance. On the other hand, the collaborative multiplayer mode called Duo Expeditions will launch simultaneously on all platforms starting July 30.
