Elden Ring Nightreign director promises more variety and clarity in final version

The highly-anticipated game Elden Ring Nightreign is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 30, 2025. Game director Junya Ishizaki has shared some insights about the alterations that will be incorporated in the final version of the game, based on feedback from its network test.

In conversation with the PS Blog, Ishizaki assured that the full release of Nightreign would deliver a wider range of gameplay options, necessitating players to frequently adjust their tactics. During the trial period, not all launch features were playable, potentially giving a misleading idea about the final product’s variety.

The game director explained, “At first, your strategy might work fine, but as the bosses change over time, your current tactics may become obsolete. This will necessitate a shift in your approach.” He added, “We designed the game to require you to adapt and adjust your strategies according to the changes within the game itself.

In addition, there were concerns about the game’s visual clarity, with some players expressing confusion about the abilities of their characters and the objectives they should focus on during a game.

According to Ishizaki, the team at FromSoftware adjusted certain aspects to ensure gameplay instructions were communicated more effectively to the players.

The challenge level of this Nightlord character, with Gladius as an example, has been improved based on the test results. At launch, this Nightlord will have more power than he did during testing, so users should not underestimate him.
