Elden Ring: Night’s Reign, the multiplayer offshoot of FromSoftware’s beloved series, is almost here! Only about a month remains before its release. In this game, a team of three players must endure and survive three consecutive nights in an alternate version of The Lands Between, culminating with a boss battle at the end of each night.
Curious about customizing your character in this game? Here’s an interesting twist; you don’t. The developers have already prepared 8 unique characters within the game for you and your friends to select from. Through network playtests and other resources, we’ve been able to identify 6 of these characters so far, while recent merchandise leaks have finally shed some light on the remaining 2.
8 Wylder – The Versatile Warrior

Wylder, as suggested by his tagline, stands out among the Nightfarers for his remarkable versatility. Upon initial observation, it appears that his fighting style bears some resemblance to a past game titled “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice“, largely due to his grappling hook technique and his Sixth Sense ability which, according to its description, enables him to ‘defy death once.’
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Sixth Sense | Cheat death a single time. |
Character Skill | Claw Shoot | Launch grappling claw to rope foes in or move swiftly by retracting. |
Ultimate Art | Onslaught Stake | Powerful single attack that launches an iron stake with a great explosion. |
Wylder stands out as an excellent choice for novice players, boasting a versatile skillset and quick movement traits. He’s also ideal for players who prefer adaptable close-combat styles.
7 Duchess – The Agile Assassin

For strategic-minded players who prefer a more passive role during battles, the Duchess character might be ideal. Her skillset enables her to navigate efficiently across the battlefield and dodge enemy attacks effectively. One of her abilities even lets her retaliate against an opponent by returning the damage they inflicted on her teammate over the past few moments.
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Magnificent Poise | Attack and dodge optimally, dodging repeatedly when necessary. |
Character Skill | Restage | Stage reprisal of recent occurrences to damage nearby foes. |
Ultimate Art | Finale | Obscure self and surrounding allies to hide from foes. |
Indeed, you’ve understood correctly about Duchess’s remarkable skill. In Elden Ring Nightreign, she is the Nightfarer who possesses the power to render herself and her companions invisible on the battlefield for a brief period. This, combined with her other abilities, makes her an outstanding choice for stealth gameplay.
6 Guardian – The Stalwart Tank

If you enjoy absorbing damage to protect your team, then the Guardian Nightfarer might be an ideal choice for you. He embodies the concept of ‘defense,’ as his skills, combined with a robust shield, let him endure the toughest blows imaginable and appear unscathed afterward.
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Steel Guard | Plant feet and brace with shield for a more powerful guard. |
Character Skill | Whirlwind | Leap up and dive back down to raise the protective area. |
Ultimate Art | Wings of Salvation | Leap up and dive back down to raise protective area. |
Glancing at the Guardian’s appearance, it’s clear that he will serve as the ‘defender’ of the team, given his imposing yet impressive armor. His wings are an added bonus, enabling him to execute his unique skills and extraordinary powers.
5 Recluse – The Elemental Sorceress

Among the eight Nightfarers, Recluse may not be the strongest, but she certainly stands out for her exceptional design. Her unique ability lies in the use of elemental magic; rather than drawing strength directly, she collects power from residues scattered across the battlefield.
1. Fireball – Unleashes a ball of fire that deals area-of-effect damage and slows enemies.
2. Ice Spear – Throws an icy spear that freezes enemies upon impact, dealing continuous cold damage over time.
3. Lightning Bolt – Fires a bolt of electricity at a single enemy, dealing electric damage and briefly stunning them.
4. Healing Wave – A wave of healing energy that restores health to allies within its area of effect.
5. Teleport – Instantly moves her to the targeted location, useful for both escaping danger and initiating attacks from unexpected positions.
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Elemental Defense | Discover affinity residues that can be collected to replenish FP. |
Character Skill | Magic Cocktail | Collect the affinity residues of targets to fire an affinity-exploiting magic cocktail. |
Ultimate Art | Soulblood Song | Unleash forbidden blood chant to brand nearby foes with blood sigils. |
Prior to the game’s official release on May 30th, there’s speculation that Recluse’s ultimate ability, Soulblood Song, may be the most potent among the group. Upon activation, it tags nearby opponents with a blood mark. Notably, Recluse and her teammates receive additional health whenever these tagged enemies are attacked or harmed.
4 Ironeye – The Tactical Archer
Ironeye may evoke thoughts of Green Arrow from the DC Universe, and he’s the Nightfarer you might want to consider for mining if you prefer dealing damage from a distance rather than engaging in close combat.
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Eagle Eye | A keenly observant eye discovers more items to obtain from foes. |
Character Skill | Marking | Fire a powerful arrow that surpasses sound and ignores any defense. |
Ultimate Art | Single Shot | Fire powerful arrow that surpasses sound and ignores any defense. |
Among the captivating features of this character lies the intrigue of his passive trait, Eagle Eye, which boosts the likelihood of loot acquisition when an adversary is vanquished. His combative nature is evident in his combat skill and ultimate move, both of which prove highly effective in dishing out substantial damage to enemies.
3 Raider – The Elden Ring Nightreign’s Juggernaut

For those who excel in Elden Ring, you’ll want to choose Raider when Nightreign is released. This character embodies the term ‘juggernaut’, as his skills enable him to charge into battles fearlessly without the risk of being knocked off balance by enemies.
Ability | Name | Description |
Passive Ability | Fighter’s Resolve | Drive the gravekeeper’s wedge into earth to summon a giant tombstone. |
Character Skill | Retaliate | Assume attack stance and pummel vigorously. A defensive posture that reduces incoming damage. An enhanced skill that causes even larger enemies to recoil. |
Ultimate Art | Totem Stela | Drive the gravekeeper’s wedge into the earth to summon a giant tombstone. |
The Raider character excels at inflicting strong stun effects on opponents due to his unique abilities. Unlike his regular attacks, his ultimate move calls forth an unexpected platform from the ground, providing a strategic advantage for your team by altering the battlefield. But, if not used tactically and at the right moment, this ability can potentially work against you.
2 Revenant – The Summoner (Leaked)

Due to recent disclosures, we’ve gained insight into the two uncovered character categories of Elden Ring Nightreign. At this point, details are scant about them, but based on what the game’s director shared previously, we can make educated guesses, particularly regarding the Revenant.
As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that Junya Ishizaki has unveiled an upcoming character in the game who will primarily leverage Spirit Ashes on the battlefield for both dealing damage and aiding allies. This feature was a hit among us fans in the main game, and its return is undoubtedly going to stir up enthusiasm among players!
1 Executor – The Precision Duelist
In case you recall, Wylder bore a vague similarity to the game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, especially its mechanics. Interestingly, Executor shares some of these features as well. Although we’re not certain, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign mentioned in an interview with PC Gamer that players should anticipate a character class that heavily relies on parry mechanisms.
If verified, the Executor could excel as an accuracy-focused Nightfarer, even rivaling Ironeye in this regard. Yet, it’s essential to remember that this class demands high skill and might be more appealing to players who have a solid understanding of timing, likely due to previous experience with Souls games.
