Filmmaker Alex Garland and actress Cailee Spaeny may collaborate again for the Elden Ring movie. It’s rumored that Spaeny, who played a significant role in Alien: Covenant, is considering joining the film’s ensemble cast. However, the character she would portray remains undisclosed at this point.
According to Jeff Sneider (via Eurogamer), there are rumors about the potential cast for the Elden Ring movie. Previously, Garland and Spaeny have collaborated on the TV series Devs and the film Civil War. Notably, Spaeny gained recognition for her role as Rain in Alien: Covenant, although some might say her breakout performance was in Pacific Rim: Uprising from 2018.
In May, it was officially confirmed that Garland would be directing and writing the script for the Elden Ring movie. Notably, Garland has previously taken on both roles in films like Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Civil War. Additionally, Garland boasts a background in the video game industry, having co-written Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and contributed to the storyline of 2013’s DmC. Moreover, it seems that Garland is well-versed in Elden Ring, as he recently completed his seventh playthrough of the game last month.
In addition to the Elden Ring movie, it’s possible that we might see Kit Connor, the actor, join the cast. This could potentially mark a reunion between him and Garland, as they had previously collaborated in the film Warfare from last year.
2022 saw Elden Ring crowned as TopMob’s Game of the Year. This year, it is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch 2. Notably, the expansion “Shadow of the Erdtree” has recently surpassed sales of 10 million copies. Moreover, the co-op spin-off Elden Ring Nightreign has also achieved success, with 5 million units sold.
