After hits like The Last of Us and Minecraft, A24 is doubling down on video game adaptations.
The renowned studio specializing in auteur films has announced it is teaming up with Bandai Namco Entertainment to bring a live-action movie adaptation of Elden Ring to life. Known collaborator Alex Garland, fresh off his work on Warfare, will pen and direct this upcoming film for the studio.
The studio famous for producing auteur films has confirmed it is joining forces with Bandai Namco Entertainment to create a live-action Elden Ring movie. Previous collaborator Alex Garland, who recently worked on Warfare, will be responsible for writing and directing this new project.
It emerged last month that film studio A24 is working on a live-action version of the video game ‘Death Stranding,’ with director Michael Sarnoski from ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ overseeing the project.
In the realm of a dark fantasy world crafted by George R. R. Martin’s mythology and FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, Elden Ring stands as an immersive role-playing game. This game invites players to traverse a mystical land brimming with dragons, monstrous creatures, castles, and dungeons. The story unfolds in a legendary domain called the Lands Between, where the cataclysmic breakage of the Elden Ring has led to endless conflict and turmoil. Your mission as the player is to reassemble the fragmented Elden Ring.
The action role-playing game, Elden Ring, was launched on February 25, 2022. Since then, it has sold over 30 million copies globally and received multiple “Game of the Year” accolades. In a week’s time, on May 30, a spin-off title, Elden Ring Nightreign, is due for release.
A film in the genre of fantasy action, akin to “Elden Ring”, represents a significant step for the studio as they delve into more costly productions. The studio’s most expensive production to date has been Garland’s “Civil War”. Among the upcoming high-budget films are “Marty Supreme” starring Timothee Chalamet and “Smashing Machine”, featuring Dwayne Johnson.
