Eight Years Later, MCU Fans Still Can’t Agree on Whether Bucky Was Innocent or Not in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

As a seasoned MCU fan who has been following the franchise since its inception, I must say that the ongoing debate about Bucky Barnes and Captain America’s actions in “Captain America: Civil War” is nothing short of exhilarating. The passion and intensity with which fans express their opinions on this matter are truly remarkable.

2016 saw the release of “Captain America: Civil War,” which was technically the third standalone Captain America film, however it’s essential to understand that this was essentially an Avengers movie, despite its title and studio classification. The storyline was inspired by the renowned “Civil War” comic book arc, but with a more focused scope as it delved into various issues within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Despite being one of the more imperfect Marvel Cinematic Universe films thus far – something we can’t fathom why others don’t acknowledge – it remains a hit movie and continues to spark lively discussions on the web, as you’ll soon discover.

Eight years following the release of the movie, Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts are still engaging in heated online discussions about whether Bucky Barnes should be considered guilty or not. This debate centers around whether Iron Man was justified in wanting to kill him, and if Captain America was correct in intervening to prevent Tony Stark from carrying out that action. Before expressing your thoughts below, take a moment to review the points we’ve gathered for you.

It’s clear that this article will delve into the debate discussed later, but let me tell you, what sparked it all in the first place? Surprisingly, a single tweet set everything in motion.

It’s becoming increasingly frustrating for me to see that people are siding with “Cap” as if he was in the right, when in fact, it was Tony defending himself against an attack by Bucky.

As you’d probably expect, this tweet ignited a passionate discussion, and we’ll share with you some compelling viewpoints from both camps next.

This is a worse case of drunk driving. The driver still goes to prison

Cap is obviously right in the movie, why would anyone say he’s wrong.

As a follower, I’m not claiming that Tony was absolutely correct, but I can understand where he’s coming from. Similarly, it’s not unjustified for Captain America to stand up for his friend in the situation.

What I’m suggesting is that the woman you’re referring to as “his mom” might be Tony’s mother. As for Tony, while he may not be in the right, I don’t believe he’s entirely wrong either. Similarly, it seems reasonable for Cap to defend his friend under these circumstances.

In a different version, we could say: “Cap deceived him, which explains his mistake.” Or alternatively, “Cap didn’t tell the truth to him, and that’s why he’s in error.”

1. It wasn’t really Bucky’s choice; he was manipulated, not at fault.
