As a dedicated fan of the illustrious and indomitable Edward James Olmos, I find myself deeply moved by his recent interviews, particularly the one with PEOPLE magazine. The resilience this man has shown in the face of adversity is truly inspiring. Having fought and won against throat cancer, he stands as a beacon of hope for all who face life’s challenges.
Just prior to the release of “One Fast Move” on Amazon Prime Video, Edward James Olmos reassured his fans about his good health, almost two years after completing treatment for throat cancer. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine at The Culver Theatre, where the film premiered on August 6th, the actor mentioned that he had undergone a PET scan the day before, suggesting his health was in order.
Two days ago, I took a test and the good doc gave me a hearty congratulations, telling me I’m doing exceptionally well. I’m beyond grateful, but let me tell you, it’s been one tough journey. You see, I wrapped up my treatment for that troublesome health issue all the way back in December of 2022. The doctor assured me they’d be keeping a close eye on my progress, and they’d only be able to confirm that the treatment was effective about two years down the line.
He mentioned that it’s been approximately one and a half years since he started [this journey or experience], with about seven additional months passed. Yesterday was particularly significant as they performed the PET scan test. Moving forward, the former Selena star shared that he is excited to devote more time to his loved ones.
For the actor, wrapping up the cancer treatment took a toll on his body. He recalled how it felt when his chemotherapy ended to the Daily Mail back in May, saying, “Once they stopped all of the chemo and all of the radiation and all the treatment is when the body gave up, and that’s when it really became difficult.” But he adjusted to things as time passed.
