EAFC 25 to have playable youth team feature in career mode: Should we be excited?

As a long-time fan of the FIFA and now EA FC series, I am thrilled to see the upcoming addition of a playable youth academy feature in the new installment. For years, manager career mode has felt neglected and underdeveloped, with little attention given to this aspect of gameplay.

Once again, it’s approaching that season: the upcoming edition of EA Sports FC (previously known as FIFA) is generating increasing hype as new features are unveiled, counting down to its September launch this year. Players have long requested some of the changes slated for this release, making for an exciting and anticipated update.

People who have previously engaged with FIFA or EA FC will attest to the neglected treatment of manager career mode throughout the years. More recent versions of the game have attempted to address this issue due to increasing criticism from the public, frequently accusing Electronic Arts of being uninventive in this area.

In simple terms, having a functional youth academy where young players can train and play is a significant advancement. It offers more complexity to the process of nurturing talents, making it more engaging and personally rewarding for players. Previously, options were limited to either sending youngsters on loan or watching them stagnate in the traditional academy setup that we’re accustomed to.

As a seasoned soccer coach with decades of experience under my belt, I strongly believe that the academy feature is a game-changer for young players looking to hone their skills and reach their full potential. This innovative addition allows budding stars to participate in youth tournaments every two months, facing off against their peers in five-a-side games.

From another perspective, before giving it a try, this feature might have been developed further to encompass a complete youth team season with domestic matches, cup competitions, and UEFA Youth League. Although introducing a mode for utilizing scouted young players is an attractive feature, incorporating a full youth squad and starting eleven would have enhanced the game’s realism.

FC 24 paved the way for further developments in our youth team system by bringing on board additional staff members, specifically coaches. In the current version of the game, you can hire coaches for offense, defense, and goalkeepers to enhance player development at the club. This concept could be expanded within our proposed comprehensive youth system by enabling the recruitment of youth coaches as well.

Youth coaches have the option to lead the starting eleven for those who prefer focusing on one team rather than juggling both a first team and a youth team. At the same time, this setup grants the player the freedom to assume control and experiment with the lineups, as well as engage in live matches.

In summary, FC 25’s new youth team concept generates some enthusiasm, but it falls short of a comprehensive youth development system that could significantly enhance manager career mode. The future remains uncertain; this feature may meet or fall short of community expectations, with past experiences suggesting the latter for this often overlooked player base segment.
