EA wants Battlefield 6 to be a platform, has no plans for price increases

In their latest financial report, EA has released information, and during the subsequent conference call, shareholders had an opportunity to ask questions directly to CEO Andrew Wilson and other executives. Regarding Battlefield 6, which was recently announced, Wilson stated that EA does not plan on implementing significant price adjustments at this time. This comment seems to be in response to recent price hikes by competitors such as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, although Microsoft has since stepped back from this trend with The Outer Worlds 2 returning to the standard pricing.

Apart from this, Wilson stated that the massive investments EA is making for their upcoming game (several studios are working on it) are justified because it’s not simply a product; instead, they aim to make it a platform. It appears that creating platforms capable of retaining players by offering diverse and novel experiences over time has become the sought-after treasure in the industry, with Fortnite and Roblox serving as prominent examples of this model.

In terms of finances, EA exceeded its initial forecasts during the first quarter of the fiscal year – a collective achievement across all its franchises, as the company highlighted.

EA Sports games, Apex Legends, and previously released titles collectively added to the impressive $1.298 billion USD in revenue generated through sales and subscriptions. Notably, EA FC Mobile and F1 25 were singled out for their robust growth, which was fueled by successful external partnerships. In particular, EA FC Mobile saw an increase thanks to its integration with Apple’s MLS Season Pass, while F1 benefited from a crossover with the movie “F1.” This development may reassure fans of racing simulators that Codemasters’ Formula One games will continue, as EA has decided to discontinue future World Endurance Championship titles.

It’s anticipated that the new Battlefield game, Battlefield 6, will hit the shelves in October 2025. The unveiling of its multiplayer action will take place tomorrow.
