As a hardcore Dune fan who has been following this iconic universe for decades, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about HBO’s new series, Dune: Prophecy. The teaser alone was enough to send shivers down my spine and leave me craving more!
With Dune: Part Two earlier this year, fans got to see Paul Atreides rise to power on Arrakis. But we know there’s way more story to tell both ahead of him, and from generations past. HBO’s new series Dune: Prophecy will depict the struggles and political maneuvering of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood 10,000 years before Muad’dib’s ascension. In the first teaser, we get to see Emily Watson, Travis Fimmel, and more begin to weave a tapestry of Imperium’s past.

The story focuses on two Harkonnen sisters who work against dangers to humankind’s future and found the renowned Bene Gesserit order, as explained by our Dune authority, Matt Caron.
In the series, Watson portrays Valya Harkonnen, who holds the position of Reverend Mother Superior within the Bene Gesserit Order. The narrative unfolds so that we get glimpses into her past, depicting how she initially joined the sisterhood and commenced her training. A significant scene emerges where Valya is shown employing “the Voice” for the first time. This ability was self-taught and refined by her before using it to its full potential upon becoming a Bene Gesserit member.
As a curious gamer, I’ve noticed that Travis Fimmel’s character, Desmond Hart, seems to have insider knowledge about the Bene Gesserit. He cautions someone about their manipulative nature, implying that they hold significant power behind the scenes. But how did he discover this secret? I can’t wait to unravel the mystery!
According to Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s “Sisterhood of Dune,” this novel series, in collaboration with Legendary Television, is set to premiere its six-part season on HBO in November. You can also stream it on Max at that time.
