For Ynez to join the Sisterhood, however, she first needs to undergo a royal marriage – not a romantic one, but rather a strategic alliance. In the premiere of Dune: Prophecy, we delve deeper into the political intrigues of Emperor Corrino’s court instead of love stories. The Emperor is in turmoil, and his authority is shaky at best. His primary concerns involve troubles on the planet Arrakis, where he battles to extract the valuable resource, spice. And his gleaming blue eyes seem to have caught the attention of the Emperor. He implies to the ruler of the Imperium that the attack on Arrakis wasn’t by the native Fremen, but by the other Great Houses of the Imperium, perhaps as a ploy to force a political alliance. The Emperor confides in Desmond Hart that he doesn’t feel right about the wedding of Ynez to Pruitt Richese.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that, just like you, I’m not completely sold on Desmond Hart. His striking resemblance to Paul Atreides makes me question his true intentions. And after the shocking events of the finale in Dune: Prophecy‘s series premiere, it’s hard not to view him with a skeptical eye.

Towards the start of the first episode in “Dune: Prophecy,” Reverend Mother Kasha, the Emperor Corrino’s Truthsayer, experiences a prophetic dream involving blood, sand, and sandworms. In her vision, Princess Ynez is consumed by an immense darkness, crying out that Kasha bears responsibility for this fate. Upon sharing this ominous image with the Sisterhood, Kasha voices her intent to prevent the marriage between Princess Ynez and Pruitt Richese. However, Valya remains resolute in her judgment, referencing the genetic archive’s approval of the union, and asserting that it is crucial for a sister to ascend the throne in order for the Sisterhood to safeguard mankind.

In the initial episode of “Dune: Prophecy”, it’s not shown that Desmond Hart marries Pruitt Richese. Instead, after the tumultuous engagement ceremony, Desmond Hart encounters Pruitt in a hallway with his thinking machine.
