Production for the second season of HBO’s Dune: Prophecy is now underway. Joining the cast are Indira Varma, Tom Hollander, and Ashley Walters, though details about their characters haven’t been released yet.
Season two will consist of eight episodes, with Alison Schapker returning as showrunner. Production is currently underway in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain, and HBO released a sneak peek video to mark the beginning of filming.

Fans will recognize Naveen Varma from his work on shows like Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lily Hollander has appeared in The White Lotus and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, while Ashley Walters is known for Bullet Boy and Adolescence. Though their roles haven’t been announced, these talented actors are sure to bring something fresh to the series.
Several actors from the first season are returning, including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
With Jessica Barden and Emma Canning returning, the show will likely continue to delve into the past, showing more of the young Harkonnen sisters – who are key characters in this origin story.
Because the show is set 10,000 years before the events featuring Paul Atreides, and covers many generations, it’s hard to know what roles the new actors will play. We’ll probably find out more as filming progresses.
We don’t have a release date for the new season yet. Production of the first season was slowed down by the 2023 Hollywood strikes, after starting in November 2022, and it didn’t premiere until November 2024. HBO hasn’t announced when the next season will arrive, but if everything goes smoothly, it might be released within a year.
