As a long-time Dune enthusiast, I was thrilled to finally see the trailer for Dune: Part Three! Warner Bros. and Legendary dropped it yesterday, and it looks incredible. We’re getting more of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Javier Bardem, which is fantastic, and I’m really excited to see Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy joining the universe. Mark your calendars – it arrives in theaters December 18th!
On Monday, new posters featuring the movie’s characters were released before the trailer. The posters showed returning actors like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, and Javier Bardem, as well as new cast members including Isaach de Bankolé, Robert Pattinson, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The new trailer picks up 17 years after the story of Dune: Part Two. It begins with Chani (Zendaya) asking Paul (Timothée Chalamet) what they’ll name their daughter if they have one. She then suggests naming a son Leto, after Paul’s father, believing he would then inherit his grandfather’s wisdom.

The preview immediately jumps into action with exciting battle sequences, revealing Pattinson’s character, Scytale, sporting a bold platinum blonde buzz cut. Paul, who also has a buzz cut, ascends a platform in front of a huge, enthusiastic crowd before facing off against an adversary in the desert. He narrates, “I’m not afraid to die, but I must not die yet.” The trailer concludes with Chani preparing for a confrontation with a hidden enemy, emphasizing the suspense and the serious challenges ahead.
Dune is a large-scale science fiction world created by Legendary, inspired by the popular novels of Frank Herbert. The story began on the big screen with ‘Dune: Part One’ in 2021, followed by ‘Dune: Part Two’ last year. The two movies have earned a total of $1.12 billion globally and have won eight Academy Awards from fifteen nominations, including two nominations for Best Picture. Denis Villeneuve directed all three films and co-wrote the screenplays with Jon Spaihts; Eric Roth also contributed to the script for the first film.
The world of Dune now includes the TV series Dune: Prophecy, which takes place 10,000 years before the events featuring Paul Atreides. Created by Alison Schapker, known for her work on Lost, the series debuted on HBO and Max in November.
As a huge fan of Denis Villeneuve’s work on Dune, the new trailer really feels like we’re building towards an absolutely massive finale to this story. It’s promising an epic conclusion to Herbert’s saga, and honestly, I can’t wait!
