Duffer Brothers Tease Most Brutal Death Yet in ‘Stranger Things 5’

Get ready, Stranger Things fans! The final season of the popular Netflix series will be released in three volumes, beginning November 26th. According to the creators, the last chapter promises plenty of action and heartfelt moments.

Matt and Ross Duffer explained that the new season aims to close out the story in a meaningful way.

As a longtime fan, I’ve been following the show closely, and I heard from Matt that while Season 5 might not be overall more violent than Season 4, it definitely has the single most shocking and brutal death of the entire series. He actually told The Times that’s his take on it, and I have to say, I’m intrigued – and a little worried – to see what that moment is!

The creators said they’ve been careful not to make the show excessively violent, but as the story and characters have developed, some intense scenes felt necessary. Ross explained they always intended the show to get more mature alongside its audience, even with new people still discovering it. He jokingly added that he hoped parents wouldn’t be too upset about the show’s increasing intensity.

While finishing the last episodes, the writers made sure each character had a satisfying conclusion after being on the show for almost ten years.

Matt explained that he generally ignores fan theories and online predictions, as he’s not sure what fans are expecting. He and his brother felt it was important for the story to remain consistent with the core ideas they established at the start.

Ross explained that the final season builds on the show’s theme of characters growing up and facing life’s challenges. He shared that the villain, Vecna, embodies the fear and insecurity that often come with adolescence, and the story will continue to explore how the characters deal with these feelings.

At long last… we can begin. The trailer for the epic final season of STRANGER THINGS is HERE.

Season 5 picks up a year after the events of season 4, in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is still recovering from the chaos caused by the rifts, and the core group of friends is determined to find and stop Vecna. However, with Vecna’s whereabouts and intentions a mystery, the danger is far from over.

Okay, so as a huge fan, I just found out how they’re dropping the fifth season! Netflix is splitting it into three parts, all hitting at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The first batch, Volume 1, is coming November 26th, then Volume 2 drops on Christmas Day – December 25th. And finally, they’re saving the series finale for New Year’s Eve, December 31st. It’s going to be a long wait between volumes, but at least we know the schedule!
