Seriously, how much can Steve Harrington fans handle? First, the trailer for Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 showed Steve and Dustin talking about the possibility of dying, making it clear they’d go down together. Then, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Duffer Brothers hinted that Steve might not survive the final season! When asked to use Funko dolls to suggest how things might end, they heavily implied Steve could be in serious danger. Duffer Brothers, please stop targeting Steve! We’ve already said Steve absolutely cannot die in Stranger Things 5.

It’s probably a trick, but the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, have us worried about Steve! Revealing his death with those dolls felt like a cruel tease. We really didn’t like how close they kept putting him to danger. Could the final season of Stranger Things actually end with Steve falling into the Upside Down? That would be awful! Although, if he ended up trapped there and discovered Eddie was still alive… that might be a sacrifice we could accept.
Beyond the hint that Steve might die, recent clues about the ending of Stranger Things 5 – specifically a Funko Pop depiction – show Eleven surrounded by water and Will caught between Vecna and Henry Creel. This is especially interesting because a preview clip revealed Joyce wants Will to enter Vecna’s mind. Could the Funko Pop be a hint at how the series ends? If so, does that also mean the earlier suggestion that Steve will die is accurate?
The final part of Stranger Things 5 will be available on Netflix on December 25, 2025, at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time. The first part of the season is already available to watch.
