Okay, so the ending of Stranger Things really showed us where everyone might be headed, but I immediately noticed someone was missing! Where was Vickie? She didn’t show up in that future scene, and no one even said her name. It got me thinking right away – what happened to her? And more importantly, is she still with Robin? Everyone’s been wondering the same thing!
The series concludes by jumping forward in time, revealing the future paths of its main characters. Though several relationships were solidified, Robin’s storyline felt unresolved, leading fans to question whether her relationship with Vickie was still intact.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, revealed they discussed what might happen with Vickie’s storyline as they finished the season, but ultimately decided to leave her future open-ended.
Ross Duffer said they discussed Vickie’s fate, but intentionally left the ending open-ended. He explained they wanted viewers to decide what ultimately happens with the characters, like whether Robin and Vickie remain a couple. “It’s up to the fans to interpret,” he said.
Matt Duffer offered a down-to-earth perspective, pointing out that high school romances rarely survive after students graduate.
Honestly, looking back at my high school experience and talking to everyone I knew, it felt like almost no couples actually lasted once they went off to college. It was really rare! Though, I have to admit, there were exceptions. I always thought Max and Lucas had something special – a really deep connection that seemed like it could actually survive. But mostly, things just didn’t work out. Still, you always hear stories that prove you wrong, so who knows? Maybe some do make it.
Robin and Vickie developed a romantic connection over a period of time. Robin had a crush on Vickie during the fourth season, and by the beginning of the final season, they were officially a couple. Vickie quickly became involved in the supernatural events, learning about the Upside Down and assisting in the ultimate battle.
Some viewers noticed clues suggesting Robin and Vickie might have broken up. For example, they weren’t spotted together at graduation, and Robin once made a comment about controlling partners that seemed suspicious to some. However, others think that comment was just a joke and didn’t have anything to do with Vickie.
Although the future of Robin and Vickie’s relationship isn’t certain, the show’s ending revealed that Max and Lucas are still a couple. We also learned that Joyce and Hopper are getting married. Thankfully, not all storylines left viewers wondering what would happen next.
