Drones Over New Jersey: Pentagon Rejects “Mothership” Theories Amid Rising UFO Speculation

As a seasoned researcher with over two decades of experience in the field, I must say that the recent string of drone sightings across New Jersey and the surrounding areas has piqued my curiosity to no end. Having delved into countless unexplained phenomena, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu – as if I’ve stumbled upon another X-Files case.

Over the past few weeks, as many as 180 drones have been noticed flying simultaneously across regions such as Morris, Hunterdon, and Ocean counties. Unlike regular consumer drones, these aircraft are much larger, louder, and exhibit evasive maneuvers like turning off when detected. Governor Phil Murphy has acknowledged their advanced design, commenting that “they go dark the moment you spot them… This is a matter we’re treating with great concern.” The governor has also reportedly held discussions with federal authorities regarding the potential repercussions of this situation.

Pentagon’s Position: No Foreign Threat Detected

The drone actions occur concurrently with increased nationwide debates about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), which include several congressional hearings. Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh tried to allay concerns, saying, “At the moment, we don’t have any proof that these activities are from a foreign power or hostile actions. It’s important to note that our bases were never under threat.” Nevertheless, the military continues to stay alert, keeping a close watch on the situation.

Although the Pentagon has expressed confidence, Representative Jeff Van Drew has adopted a more assertive approach, suggesting there might be a connection between the drones and an Iranian “mother ship” positioned off the Atlantic coast. On Fox News, Van Drew declared, “Iran likely launched a mother ship around a month ago, which carries these drones… It’s off the east coast of the United States.” He emphasized the need for swift action, urging the military to intercept the drones immediately.

The Pentagon has firmly denied these accusations. “We do not see any Iranian vessel near U.S. shores, and there’s no supposed mother ship launching drones in our direction,” said Singh. Even independent naval experts have refuted this assertion.

Local and National Efforts to Identify the Source

In a social media update, the Florham Park Police Department in Morris County admitted receiving reports about drone sightings. They’re working together with state and federal agencies to pinpoint where these drones are coming from. Notably, these drones have been spotted close to vital military bases such as Picatinny Arsenal, a significant research center, and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, a key defense site.

The U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), responsible for securing our nation’s airspace, has acknowledged receiving reports but hasn’t been asked to intervene yet. A representative explained that they have carefully reviewed the events alongside other military organizations and allied agencies. For now, USNORTHCOM is not involved in these incidents, but they are on standby, ready to act if the situation becomes more serious.

Speculation and Skepticism

As an analyst studying UFO phenomena, I approach such incidents with a healthy dose of caution, much like Mitch Horowitz, author of “Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction.” Horowitz is skeptical about the Iranian mothership theory, viewing it as highly speculative. In his words, “I believe we’re labeling these objects as drones because it makes the unknown seem more familiar. However, I haven’t encountered anyone of serious intellect who can confidently explain these strange occurrences.

Horowitz characterized the recent wave of UFO sightings as extraordinary, drawing a comparison to a significant point in human history. He stated, “This widespread occurrence of sightings, where respected authorities are at a loss for explanations, is unparalleled. The only thing that appears certain is the stance taken by extremists—either complete skeptics or those who view UFOs with near-religious fervor.

A Persistent Mystery

With more and more sightings occurring and no clear answers forthcoming, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that managing unidentified aerial phenomena is a complex issue. The mix of military, civilian, and governmental entities involved creates a complicated scenario, leaving people grappling with a blend of fascination and worry. Although the Pentagon has dismissed any immediate dangers, these events have sparked discussions about the origins and consequences of such actions, meaning the enigma surrounding New Jersey’s skies will likely endure for the foreseeable future.
