In the updated version of his legal action, Drake alleges that Universal Music Group deliberately boosted the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track during the Super Bowl and Grammy Awards with the aim of tarnishing Drake’s reputation as the artist behind U My Everything. According to recent news, this revised lawsuit has grown significantly in length, expanding from 81 pages to a total of 107 pages.
Through Variety, K.Dot’s track, was exposed to more than 133 million individuals, many of whom were unaware of the song prior to this, including a significant number of children.
According to Drake’s legal team, “The Super Bowl halftime show we organized was the first, and we hope it remains the only one, that aimed to tarnish another artist’s reputation.
Additionally, it was alleged in the complaint that Kendrick Lamar intentionally left out the term “pedophile” during his Super Bowl performance. Furthermore, it was implied (on the belief of having accurate information) that if he had not omitted this word from his live act, his performance could have been canceled. In response to this, the legal team for the artist Rich Baby Daddy argued that it is generally understood that one should not falsely label someone as a “certified pedophile.
According to Drake’s lawyers, it was argued that Universal Music Group purposefully agreed to promote Drake’s Super Bowl performance even though a legal case had been initiated earlier. This deliberate action by the label is said to have intentionally harmed Drake.
Speaking about the matter, Drake’s attorney, Michael Gottlieb (who is also a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher), expressed that Drake’s revised complaint significantly bolsters an already robust case. He further stated that UMG’s public relations strategies and attempts to evade disclosure won’t obscure the facts and truth.
After accumulating a greater number of complaints than previously, the artist known as Laugh Now Cry Later has expressed his readiness to disclose proof of Universal Music Group’s misbehavior. He stated that the label will face consequences for their actions towards their client.
