‘Dragon Ball Super’ Manga Is Back with a Special One-Shot in Late February

The popular manga series “Dragon Ball Super” is coming back for a brief spell with a unique one-shot, scheduled to be released in the extra-large April issue of “V Jump” on February 20th. This chapter will focus on Trunks and his determination to uphold justice as part of the Saiyaman X team. On Monday, the official “Dragon Ball” YouTube channel posted a preliminary sketch from the upcoming story, which can be seen in the video around the 5:23 mark.

This news arises following the prolonged pause in the manga, which occurred in April 2024. The suspension ensued after the unfortunate demise of Dragon Ball‘s creator, Akira Toriyama, in March 2024. He was 68 years old and passed away due to an acute subdural hematoma.

Previously, the manga had a pause in August 2022 and resumed again in December of the same year. Later on, it started the “Super Hero” storyline in March 2023, mirroring the plot of the “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” movie.

Ever since it first appeared in V Jump magazine back in June 2015, Toyotarō’s manga has taken an unusual route, occasionally deviating from the anime. The latest compilation volume, number 23, was released in April 2024. Meanwhile, Viz Media keeps publishing the manga online concurrently with its Japanese publication.

Simultaneously, another Dragon Ball venture is picking up speed. On November 1, Yūji Kasai debuted “Dragon Ball Super Divers -Let’s Super Dive!!-” within Saikyō Jump. This manga correlates with the Dragon Ball Super Divers arcade game, which in turn led to a special one-shot by Toyotarō, published in V Jump on October 21.

Regardless of the uncertainty surrounding the future of the main Dragon Ball Super manga, its enthusiasts continue to have much excitement ahead due to the ongoing advancements.
