Dragon Ball Daima To Hit Screens This Year? Here’s What Report Says

As a dedicated fan of Dragon Ball since its early days, I am thrilled to my core by the latest announcements about the new anime series, Dragon Ball DAIMA. The release of the trailer and visual teaser has only fueled my excitement further. Having grown up with Goku and his friends, it’s truly heartening to see that the franchise is continuing its legacy with a new addition.

A fresh trailer and sneak peek, known as a visual teaser, have been unveiled for the forthcoming Dragon Ball DAIMA anime. These new media offer a glimpse into the upcoming expansion of the beloved franchise. The trailer reminds us that the anime is scheduled to debut in Fall 2024, coinciding with the 40th anniversary festivities for Akira Toriyama’s iconic work.

In October, Dragon Ball DAIMA is scheduled to come out, marking the same time for the launch of Sparking! Zero – the long-awaited sequel to the Budokai Tenkaichi series, which concluded with Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 in 2007.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Confirms October release

A new anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga, titled “Dragon Ball Daima,” is set to debut this year in commemoration of its 40th anniversary. Originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, this upcoming series serves as the latest addition to the Dragon Ball franchise. Though details about the show are scarce, anticipation is high for the fresh start it will bring to the beloved series.

The upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime is slated for release in October 2024, securing its spot as part of the Fall 2024 anime lineup. This news signifies that fans won’t have to endure long waits, but a definite launch date has yet to be announced at this time. The anticipated series is predicted to deliver an exhilarating experience within the Dragon Ball universe.

Akira Toriyama, the sadly departed mastermind behind Dragon Ball, played a significant role in shaping the primary plot and characters for Dragon Ball Daima. Now, Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki are overseeing the production of this series at Toei Animation. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is responsible for bringing Toriyama’s designs to life as animation, while Yuuko Kakihara manages the scripts and writes new ones. Recently, a fresh anime website and character illustrations were unveiled, showcasing the original character concepts created by none other than Akira Toriyama himself.

“Imagine this, my dear fans. In the next chapter of Dragon Ball, due to an unfolding conspiracy, Goku and his companions find themselves shrunken in size. To set things right, they embark on a thrilling journey to a new, enigmatic world. This grand adventure is filled with suspense and intense action, something we haven’t seen in a while. With his diminished stature, Goku resorts to using the Power Pole for battle, an old trick up his sleeve.”

Based on information from Toei Animation’s localization director, Daniel Castañeda, the upcoming series will consist of 20 episodes. Simultaneously, it will be released globally in various languages. The storyline involves Goku and his companions being reduced in size due to a conspiracy. To rectify the situation, they embark on an expedition to an unfamiliar world filled with excitement and action.

What we know about Dragon Ball DAIMA

At New York Comic Con in the previous year, Dragon Ball DAIMA was unveiled and is scheduled for launch in Autumn 2024. This new installment in the Dragon Ball series focuses on the primary characters after they are transformed into children due to a secret plot. In amusing fashion, fans have labeled it as “Dragon Ball GT 2” because of its resemblance to the anime-only series. The teasers for this showcase vivid visuals, accompanied by uplifting tunes in the background.

In the upcoming anime “Dragon Ball DAIMA,” we’ll delve into the enigmas of the Demon Realm as a shadowy figure confronts Majin Buu in an epic showdown. The name “DAIMA” offers a hint, as it includes the Japanese character for evil, which is commonly found in words like “Ma-oh,” meaning Demon Lord. The principal figures in this production include the Supreme Kai and his assistant, Kibito. Toriyama, who played a significant role in its creation, is acknowledged as the brainchild behind the idea.

In the January edition of V Jump magazine, it was announced that Aya Komaki and Yoshitaka Yashima, both animation directors with credits in “One Piece” and “Dragon Ball Super” respectively, will take on the roles of series directors for project DAIMA. Meanwhile, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who has worked as a key animator on multiple Dragon Ball movie projects, will be responsible for adapting Toriyama’s original character designs for this series, having previously contributed to various Digimon projects as a character designer.

As an obsessed fan of Cells At Work! I can’t help but be thrilled at the news that Yūko Kakihara, the brilliant mind behind our favorite cellular series, will once again bring her magic touch to the script and series composition. In contrast to the recent Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero animation project that ventured into 3D realms, DAIMA is returning to its 2D roots – a decision that resonates deeply with me, as it harks back to the timeless animation style of the much-loved Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie from 2018. So far, Masako Nozawa, the voice behind Goku, has been announced as part of the cast. I’m eagerly anticipating who else will join this exceptional team!
