‘Don’t Move’ Directors in Talks with Sam Raimi About Live-Action Miles Morales Movie

As a fan who has grown up with Sam Raimi‘s iconic Spider-Man trilogy and the terrifying thrills of the Evil Dead series, I am absolutely ecstatic about the potential collaboration between Raimi, Adam Schindler, Brian Netto, and Marvel’s Miles Morales. The idea of seeing a live-action adaptation of Miles Morales, a character that resonates deeply with so many people, is nothing short of exhilarating.

Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, directors of the Netflix thriller “Don’t Move,” have suggested that they may be in talks with filmmaker Sam Raimi about helming a live-action version of Spider-Man’s Miles Morales. Raimi, famous for his work on Marvel’s early Spider-Man trilogy and the Evil Dead series, has previously worked with Schindler and Netto as he produced “Don’t Move.

During a recent chat, the filmmakers have disclosed that they’ve been brainstorming some fresh concepts with Raimi. Among these ideas are potential plans to rejuvenate Raimi’s iconic movie Darkman and the possibility of a live-action adaptation featuring Miles Morales. Schindler appears excited about Darkman, citing a mutual appreciation for the 90’s film, while Netto spoke of his own bond with Miles Morales.

Netto, who is a parent of a son that shares the mixed heritage seen in the Miles Morales character, gleefully recounted his son’s reaction when he saw Morales in animated form. “The expression on my son’s face mirrored my own,” said Netto, emphasizing how significant it would be to bring this character to live-action movies for fans who can relate to him.

The character Miles Morales, who hails from Brooklyn and is of Puerto Rican and African American descent, has become well-known since he debuted in the Marvel Universe in 2011. He’s been featured in animated movies such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its follow-up, and video games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. Despite this, he hasn’t made an appearance in a live-action movie yet. As fans anxiously anticipate his debut, discussions about a live-action adaptation of Morales have increased significantly.

Although it’s unclear if Schindler and Netto will be directly involved, their discussions with Raimi hint at a desire to delve deeper into the character. As of now, there are no immediate plans for a live-action adaptation from Marvel, which Netto accepts could provide them with some “time to develop that aspect further.

The suggestion of a live-action movie featuring Miles Morales has generated even more enthusiasm with actor Rhenzy Feliz – famed for his work in The Penguin – expressing his desire to play the character. Feliz admitted that age might be a concern given Miles Morales is usually depicted as a high school student, but he’s eager to step into the role if Marvel decides to portray an older, college-aged version of the character instead.

Simultaneously, the Netflix-streamed movie “Don’t Move,” rated 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, is garnering acclaim for its gripping narrative. This film features Finn Wittrock and Kelsey Asbille in a heart-stopping saga of survival against a lethal adversary. Their performances in this thriller have left audiences eager to see their skills in future projects.
