Don’t believe the Tube’s lies – Metroid Prime 4 isn’t actually out now

Passengers on London’s Underground (or ‘Tube’) have been caught off guard by an unexpected announcement disguised as an advertisement. The ad, sandwiched among other Switch 2 ads, boasted that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is currently available. However, this statement is incorrect, as the game has not yet been released.

At Oxford Circus station in London, an offensive advertisement was found. After it had been shared online for some time, VGC verified the presence of the ad after their reporters personally checked the station. Some other ads featured in the display were: Donkey Kong Bananza (fresh from a banana-themed Nintendo Direct presentation), the upcoming Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Mario Kart World, which is already available to play.

It appears that Mario Kart World may have a role in the release of Metroid Prime 4, as both games share a similar “out now” label on their ads. Upon closer inspection, the label for Metroid Prime 4 seems to be concealing a smaller box, which could potentially indicate a future release date of 2025. However, this is just speculation since Mario’s enthusiastic labeling is obstructing our view of the hidden box.

There might be several explanations for this mix-up. For instance, the “Out Now” label could have been a sticker meant to cover the “2025” label following the game’s release. Another possibility is that two separate advertisements were sent to the marketing agency, one for before the release and one for after. It’s also plausible – and most likely – that a careless graphic designer neglected to hide the “Out Now” element from Mario Kart World’s ad in Photoshop before exporting Metroid Prime 4’s ad.

Regardless of speculation, Nintendo has made it clear that Metroid Prime 4, as yet, hasn’t been launched. Instead, we can anticipate its release sometime during the remainder of this year.

The advertisement’s “Out Now” claim is inaccurate. Both “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” have not been released yet and are expected to come out in the year 2025 instead.

Here it is: Metroid Prime 4 didn’t sneak up on us without warning. If it had, you wouldn’t have heard about it while commuting to work in the morning. Luckily, there are plenty of other games available for the Switch, such as Fortnite, Survival Kids, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and many others, to keep us entertained until Metroid Prime 4 is officially released.
