Does Jennie Garth Regret Appearing On Beverly Hills, 90210 Reboot? Actress Reveals

As someone who grew up with the iconic series “Beverly Hills, 90210” shaping my teenage years, I must say that revisiting the cast at the 90s Con in 2024 was like stepping into a time machine and reliving the nostalgia of my youth. It’s fascinating to hear Jennie Garth express her regrets about joining the show, while Brian Austin Green reminisces about the good times they had without the distractions of social media and too many cameras.

In 2024, the main characters from the iconic ’90s American TV show Beverly Hills, 90210 came together for a unique gathering, rekindling memories of their time on the series that left a lasting impact on pop culture.

At 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach on September 14, the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 came together to reminisce about their beloved series, discussing their experiences and recreating memorable moments from the iconic TV show.

At the reunion, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, and Ian Ziering were all in attendance. Green shared that he admired the idea behind the series, which focused on the lives of affluent students at West Beverly Hills High School. On the other hand, Garth voiced her feelings of remorse over her involvement with the show.

“I wish I hadn’t done it. No offense to them,” Garth said.

She mentioned that the show’s producer was acquainted with someone she knows, and she recalls him visiting her home, sitting her down, and persuading her to participate in the show, presenting it as a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

She said, “He requested that I take on a task, but at the time, I wasn’t sure how to refuse. However, they were incredibly kind individuals. My best wishes go out to them.

Originally, just Jennie Garth, the recently deceased Shannen Doherty (who lost her life after a prolonged struggle against cancer), and Tori Spelling worked on 90210 alongside newer actors like Shenae Grimes and AnnaLynne McCord. However, the original cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 got together again for another revival in 2019 through Fox’s BH90210. In this new series, they portrayed exaggerated versions of themselves in a dramatic TV show that unfolded as a serialized storyline.

At their 90s convention panel, the quartet fondly reminisced about the original series, which spanned over 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000. Brian Austin Green mentioned that the production team enjoyed creating the series due to the lack of social media and excessive cameras during filming.

He said that people loved it because, in the era without the internet, viewers did not expect such a unique series, that too on television. “I honestly don’t feel now, this time it would have the same impact it did back then,” he added.

Alternatively, Gabrielle Carteris, the actor, believed that the show struck a chord with audiences due to its honest portrayal. It dared to address tough topics such as teenage sexuality, domestic violence, and substance abuse involving alcohol and drugs.

90210, Beverly Hills gained considerable prominence in 90s pop culture, serving as a model for numerous other shows within the genre. Although it received praise for tackling important issues and creating captivating narratives, it also faced criticism for its overly dramatic plotlines and stereotypical characterizations that were common during that period.

The series gave birth to multiple sequels, such as Melrose Place (which centers around distinct characters and serves as a direct spin-off) and 90210 (a revamped version that ran from 2008 to 2013). At the same time, the 90s Con Florida is taking place until September 15 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.
