The series is starting to give us some details via an official synopsis and a trailer. Here’s what this series is about: 

When a formidable, long-lost marine creature rises out of the ocean, causing a stir among humans, a global emergency arises. As the entire human race finds itself in peril, UNIT springs into action to deal with the chaos, as both land and sea engage in conflict.

And here’s a short trailer as well. It looks like we might get a human and Sea Devil romance: 

Russell T Davies, the show’s creator and writer, explains that there’s a race dwelling deep beneath the seas. They rise every day to find the condition of the oceans – one we have significantly damaged. It’s not just a mess; it’s a war, a massive conflict.

As per Davies’ explanation, this mini-series consists of five segments and delves into Earth’s events when The Doctor is absent.

Behind the Scenes

The conflict between Land and Sea is set to be penned by its originator, who currently serves as the showrunner for Doctor Who, Russell T Davies. Additionally, Pete McTighe has been announced as a writer for the Disney+ series alongside him. It’s reasonable to expect that Davies will also assume the role of showrunner in this project.

The War Between the Land and the Sea’s Cast 

In the captivating series I’m following, I have the privilege of witnessing the outstanding performances by Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Russell Tovey. Previously, they graced our screens as Tish, Martha Jones’ sister in “Doctor Who,” and Midshipman Alonso Frame in “Voyage of the Damned.” However, in “The War Between the Land and the Sea,” they step into entirely new roles – Tovey portrays Barclay, while Mbatha brings Salt to life.

Multiple actors from the “Doctor Who” series are joining this upcoming show to reprise their roles in UNIT. Among them are Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient, who will play Kate Stewart and her colleague (and friend) Colonel Christopher Ibrahim respectively. Ruth Madeley returns as Shirley Anne Bingham, the UNIT Scientific Advisor, and Colin McFarlane reprises his role as General Austin Pierce from “Torchwood: Children of Earth”.
