As someone who has spent years working as a security professional, I can deeply empathize with Thomas Weidenmuller’s situation. It is disheartening to see that after a court ruling, one still needs to take further legal steps to enforce compensation for an injury inflicted on him. The fact that Kenneth Petty allegedly assaulted him and Nicki Minaj reportedly did not intervene or offer any remorse adds insult to injury.
Thomas Weidenmuller is moving forward with additional legal actions regarding the 2019 incident in which Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was accused of assaulting him backstage during one of her concerts. He is now pursuing the original ruling that required Petty to pay over half a million dollars, as reported by People magazine.
The article states that court records show the plaintiff submitted a memo detailing costs and an order to seize assets on September 6th and September 13th, respectively, seeking $526,110.74 from Minaj and Petty.
In response to a lawsuit alleging that Minaj’s husband had injured a security guard’s jaw at her 2019 Frankfurt show, the judge issued a ruling in default as neither party responded. (NME and VIBE report this.)
As stated by Vibe, it’s claimed that the plaintiff had a heated exchange of words with the Good Form rapper when they were both guarded by a member of the security team. During this incident, it’s alleged that she tossed her shoe towards him, and subsequently, he was hit by Petty.
Initially, Weidenmuller sought $21,000 for his medical expenses and $700,000 to cover his injuries, emotional distress, and pain. However, this amount was lowered by the judge to a total of $503,318 in a default judgment. This reduction most likely occurred because Minaj and her husband did not respond to Weidenmuller’s lawsuit, resulting in the default judgment.
As reported by People magazine, Weidenmuller appears to be attempting to execute a prior ruling through a writ that allows for compulsory action. This writ empowers him to seize property in order to enforce a court-granted judgment of possession awarded to the plaintiff.
At times, a legal document may instruct officials to either auction off or take control of the defendant’s assets that are not exempt from seizure, in order to settle any outstanding debts.
Most recently, Petty came under fire for allegedly using a gay slur during Minaj’s TikTok live. He appeared to be seated behind his wife and as she spoke to the audience about not letting anyone “steal” their happiness, he agreed, saying, “That’s right, especially little f–s or f–k boys.”
Many supporters of the longtime rapper faced criticism, given that it’s widely recognized that a significant portion of his fanbase identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, numerous online users noted that the artist failed to respond when derogatory comments were made towards him.
