As a dedicated follower of both Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia, I find myself deeply saddened by the turn of events that have led to their legal disputes. Having witnessed their beautiful journey on Dancing with the Stars and the birth of their son Matteo, it’s heartbreaking to see such a public display of conflict.
Ever since Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on August 29, 2024, a series of disagreements have arisen between him and Nikki Garcia. Each party has accused the other of being the aggressor in the incident that led to the arrest. Subsequently, they have both filed separate petitions for domestic violence restraining orders in court.
On September 30, 2024, a judge issued Nikki Garcia a restraining order against Chigvintsev, according to PEOPLE. In response, on October 3, 2024, Chigvintsev asked for protection from Garcia, and a judge granted this request on October 4.
On October 21st, a comprehensive hearing is set, where both parties will share their accounts of the incident. According to Garcia, Chigvintsev grew progressively angry following his dismissal from Dancing with the Stars in 2017. She recalled that they had talked about managing his anger before, but an argument ensued when he lost his temper while discussing the proper way to toast Matteo’s English muffin.
Speaking as a lifestyle advisor, in my recent personal account, I’ve shared that Artem Chigvintsev claimed in court documents that Mishka Garcia turned me into a fussy eater and was under significant work-related stress. He asserted that our disagreement, initially centered around Matteo’s lunchbox and allegations about unequal parenting duties, intensified. As reported, when I stepped away to give her some space while preparing Matteo’s meal, Mishka pursued me and continued the argument. Despite my attempts to maintain composure, Mishka grew more agitated, culminating in her insisting that I leave her home.
At this point, she chucked Matteo’s shoes towards Artem Chigvintsev. Later on, Garcia expressed remorse for her behavior and admitted it was due to feeling overpowered since Chigvintsev had scolded her earlier that day.
Additionally, she mentioned that the shoes were lightweight and unlikely to cause harm to him. Meanwhile, Chigvintsev shared that Matteo became frightened due to his mother’s tone. Furthermore, he revealed that he escorted Matteo to his bedroom and shut the door behind them.
Chigvintsev explained that he attempted to move her away from him and the doorway, hoping Matteo wouldn’t see any more disagreement. Additionally, he begged her to settle down.
In the meantime, Garcia claimed that Chigvintsev forcefully pulled her to the ground by holding onto her arms. As a result of these incidents, a restraining order was issued to both parties.
September 24 saw County District Attorney Allison Haley make public her decision to forgo any criminal prosecution of Chigvintsev.
