During their “The Future of World-Building at Disney” panel, Disney unveiled a fresh animatic idea for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. roller coaster destined for Hollywood Studios. This will be Disney’s inaugural vertical/suspended roller coaster experience. The thrill of this attraction lies in the anticipation; the ride itself will feature Disney’s first-ever vertical lift, promising screams even before it sets in motion.

Disney World is soon to grant your wishes, as a new E-ticket roller coaster will become the star attraction in the upcoming Hollywood Studios district: Monstropolis area. The brand-new land, which is set to replace The Muppets’ current location within the park, is destined to bring your “Monsters, Inc.” dreams to life!
Disney has revealed how passengers will embark on their coaster journey, giving a sneak peek at the one-of-a-kind beginning during their visit to SXSW. Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, and Imagineer Michael Hundgen provided this glimpse. The start of the ride is an adventure in itself, as Disney debuts its first-ever suspended coaster with a vertical lift—a unique feature.
An animatic video, following the unveiling of models showcasing the general structure of the ride, demonstrates two loading areas. Each area is double-sided and equipped with four seating zones to expedite the process. The passengers will be lifted vertically like in Monsters, Inc. This vertical ascent mirrors the experience Boo had when she passed through the door vault. Once secured, guests will be hoisted up, replicating the sensation from Monsters, Inc.
