Disney’s ERAGON Series Adds Todd Harthan, Todd Helbing, Marc Webb

Exciting news about Disney’s live-action adaptation of Christopher Paolini’s The Inheritance Cycle has been revealed. Production of Eragon is progressing well with the addition of three new creatives: Todd Harthan, the showrunner of High Potential; Todd Helbing from Superman & Lois; and Marc Webb, known for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Disney+ is developing a series based on Christopher Paolini’s popular fantasy novels, The Inheritance Cycle, beginning with Eragon. The project has been in development since 2022, with Paolini co-creating the adaptation alongside Harthan. Harthan and Helbing, known for his work with The CW, will lead the show as showrunners. Marc Webb, the director of The Amazing Spider-Man films, will executive produce, alongside Bert Salke of Co-Lab 21, who was previously announced as an executive producer.

In Eragon, a typical teenager is chosen by fate to become a dragon rider—something that hasn’t happened in over a century. He forms a strong connection with his dragon and must learn powerful, ancient magic. His journey involves challenges, adventure, and a fight to defeat a cruel king and bring peace back to the land. Eragon is the first book in The Inheritance Cycle, a series that has sold over 40 million copies around the world.

This isn’t the first attempt to bring Eragon to the screen. A movie adaptation came out in 2006, starring Edward Speleers as Eragon, but it wasn’t well-received due to budget and time limitations. It will be interesting to see how Disney’s new TV series measures up.

When Will Disney’s Eragon Series Come Out?

Disney hasn’t shared any news about who will star in the upcoming Eragon series, or when it might be released. What we do know is that the show is officially being developed with a dedicated team of writers and producers. Fans are eager to find out who will play Eragon and how the magical world of the books will come to life on screen. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available!
