As a seasoned gamer and Disney enthusiast who’s spent countless hours battling Hydra, saving Atlantis, and navigating the treacherous paths of the underworld, I must say, this news about a live-action ‘Hades’ movie has me both intrigued and excited!
Disney has shifted direction with their upcoming live-action ‘Hercules’ adaptation, centering instead on the infamous character Hades, and there’s speculation that they might rename the movie based on him.
According to Daniel Richtman’s report on Toonado.com, there is a significant change in the plotline that will provide fans with a fresh viewpoint by focusing on the character who rules the underworld.
Last year, a project was first unveiled with Guy Ritchie, known for directing ‘Aladdin’, and the Russo brothers, who directed ‘Avengers: Endgame’, serving as the creative team behind it.
While Ritchie’s continued involvement remains unconfirmed, the Russos are eagerly on board.
In a recent interview, they expressed their desire to avoid a literal remake, instead opting to incorporate new aspects while being inspired by the cherished original.
There’s been a lot of discussion about who might play certain roles, with Taron Egerton and Ariana Grande being early contenders for Hercules and Meg respectively.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve heard whispers that pop sensation Dua Lipa might be in contention for the role of Meg. But the search for Hades is still ongoing, and we haven’t caught wind of any potential actors stepping into the shoes once filled by James Woods yet.
Joe Russo made it clear that they approach their projects creatively, explaining, “We’re not about simply rehashing the story already told in the animation. Our Marvel projects steer clear of direct comic adaptations; this principle also applies to ‘Hercules.’ We aim to introduce something fresh to ‘Hercules,’ while still drawing inspiration from the classic tale, ensuring a unique take on it.
Shifting our attention towards Hades might just add an intriguing turn to the ‘Hercules’ storyline, leaving fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation for further revelations.
