Disney+ Releases Trailer for ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special ‘Joy to the World’

As a self-proclaimed Whovian with decades of time travel under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming “Doctor Who” Christmas special, “Joy to the World.” With Steven Moffat at the helm and Ncuti Gatwa taking on the iconic role of the Doctor, this promises to be a journey like no other.

Disney Plus has released the formal preview for the eagerly awaited “Doctor Who” holiday special titled “Joy to the World,” set to air on December 25th, at 9:10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) or 12:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Summary: In the year 2024, Joy arrives at a London hotel. Upon entering her room, she stumbles upon a concealed entrance leading to the Time Hotel. Here, she encounters peril, dinosaurs, and the Doctor. However, an ominous scheme is brewing worldwide, timed perfectly for Christmas celebrations.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that in this production, Ncuti Gatwa from “Sex Education” takes on the role of the Doctor, with Nicola Coughlan from “Bridgerton” portraying Joy. The talented Steph de Whalley joins as Anita, Jonathan Aris as Melnak, Joel Fry as Trev, Peter Benedict as Basil, Julia Watson as Hilda, and Niamh Marie Smith as Sylvia.

Production Team: The television production of “Joy to the World” is overseen by Steven Moffat (“Doctor Who,” “Sherlock”), who is both the writer and executive producer. Alex Sanjiv Pillai (“Riverdale,” “Bridgerton”) takes on the director’s role. Russell T Davies serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter are also credited as executive producers.

The special has been jointly created by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, specifically for Disney Branded Television, BBC One, and the BBC iPlayer platform.
