Viewership for the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has decreased since its first season, according to new data from Nielsen.
From December 8th to 14th, 2025, the two-episode premiere of Percy Jackson Season 2 garnered an impressive 508 million minutes of viewing time, according to Nielsen’s U.S. streaming data.
In contrast, the first week of Season 1, with its two-episode premiere, reached 572 million minutes viewed in 2023. This means Season 2 started with over 11% fewer views, even though Disney+ released it during the same holiday period.
The second season started with two episodes, but viewership was lower than the season one finale, which had 575 million minutes watched. With only one episode available at the start, it seems the show has lost around half its audience, a trend confirmed by a recent Luminate report showing a 63% decrease in viewers.

Silence From Disney
Disney gave Percy Jackson a big push when it first launched, and the show quickly gained traction with over 26 million views in just a few weeks. They celebrated it as a major success – the biggest series premiere on Disney+ that wasn’t connected to Star Wars or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This time? Total silence.
Both Nielsen and Luminate data indicate that viewership has declined, but Disney hasn’t shared its own figures for the second season. This suggests the company is deliberately avoiding publicizing potentially negative results.
After the third episode of Percy Jackson Season 1 aired, the show was watched for a total of 700 million minutes. This means we’ll be watching closely to see how the third week of Season 2 performs.

Nielsen Tracking Is Always On
Disney+ automatically includes Nielsen tracking for all U.S. viewers, so the data reflects what people are actually watching, rather than relying on viewers choosing to share their information.
Most people’s viewing time is automatically counted by Nielsen, unless they actively choose to stop it – which doesn’t happen often.

Still Renewed — But for How Long?
Disney has renewed Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a third season, which will cover the events of The Titan’s Curse. However, this pattern of quick renewals is becoming noticeable.
If fewer people keep watching, the show could be cancelled. This is especially true now that Disney+ is changing its approach to appeal to a wider audience and combining Hulu into its service to increase viewership.
Fans of Percy Jackson have more to anticipate, but current data indicates the series’ popularity may be decreasing.
