Now that Chris Evans is reprising his role as Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday, Disney is focusing on the original Steve Rogers version of the character for its theme park experiences, rather than the Sam Wilson version.
A brand new nighttime show, “Disney Cascade of Lights,” will premiere at Disneyland Paris’ Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, featuring a prominent role for Captain America. The spectacular combines drones, water effects, and lights.
This decision is particularly interesting, given that Captain America: Brave New World wasn’t well-received by audiences or at the box office.
Rumors further add that Steve Rogers will be returning as a lead character in Doomsday.

Captain America Takes Center Stage at Disneyland Paris
The new show is set at Adventure Bay, featuring a large 3-hectare lake and a huge, 160-tonne floating platform. Every evening, the platform is quietly put together on the water using electric boats before the show begins.
- 379 aerial and aquatic drones
- Large-scale fountains and water curtains
- Projection mapping and pyrotechnics
- Low-flying drones designed to bring visuals closer to guests
I’m so excited about all the heroes included – Captain America, Moana, Mulan, Hercules, Judy Hopps, and a bunch of others! But honestly, when it comes to the Avengers part, it’s Captain America, Steve Rogers, who really shines for me.

Disney’s Timing Isn’t Subtle
Disney is highlighting Chris Evans’ work as Captain America at the same time Marvel has officially announced he’ll be back in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
Notably, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America isn’t featured in the park display, suggesting Marvel is subtly adjusting its plans after the Brave New World series didn’t resonate with viewers.
Mackie is also confirmed for Doomsday, so how everything plays out remains to be seen.
Disneyland Paris has a history of celebrating classic Avengers characters. They previously presented “Avengers: Power the Night,” a show similar to the new one, which also heavily featured drones and iconic heroes like Captain America and Iron Man.

A Tech-Heavy Show Built Around Emotion
Ben Spalding, a producer known for his work creating the first drone shows at Disneyland Paris, has been working on Cascade of Lights for more than seven years.
We teamed up with Dronisos to create new drones, including special waterproof drones nicknamed “ducks.” These allowed us to project light effects that reflected beautifully on the lake’s water.
The story’s main idea is inspiration, which is presented almost as a character connecting the experiences of each hero. Music is incredibly important to the narrative, featuring an original score composed by Mark Hammond. This score was recorded with a 90-piece orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios and includes the original song, “We Can Be Heroes.”

Marvel’s Direction Is Showing — Even at the Parks
With Chris Evans’ return in Avengers: Doomsday and Disney parks focusing on Steve Rogers instead of Sam Wilson, it’s obvious Marvel is sticking with what’s proven popular.
Disneyland Paris has subtly indicated the return of the original Captain America, whether that was the plan or not.
