Disney and BBC Confirm Rumored April Premiere of New Season of ‘Doctor Who’ and an Intriguing Guest Appearance

Fans of Doctor Who can gear up for the debut of the second season on Disney+, happening on April 12th. The show will be accessible at midnight Pacific Time (PT) and 3 a.m. Eastern Time (ET). For those in the UK, you can watch it live on BBC or stream it on BBC iPlayer on the very same day.

This season consists of a grand total of eight episodes, rolled out one at a time every week. In the second installment, Alan Cumming will make an appearance as a guest star, lending his voice to Mr. Ring-a-Ding, a jovial, melodious cartoon character residing in Sunny Town alongside his companion Sunshine Sally. However, by 1952, after many years on stage, Mr. Ring-a-Ding finds himself increasingly aware of the world outside the screen, which ultimately leads to some troubling developments.

Alan Cumming is no stranger to the “Doctor Who” universe. Previously, he portrayed King James I in an episode entitled ‘The Witchfinders,’ which aired in 2018.

Russell T Davies, the show’s producer, applauded Alan Cumming for his exceptional performance, remarking, “Only Alan Cumming could infuse a rogue cartoon character with such intelligence, mischief, peril, and amusement. He adds an unparalleled level of wildness and madness to the Doctor Who universe, and it’s truly a privilege to have him join us in the TARDIS.

I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming season stars Ncuti Gatwa in the role of the Doctor, Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra, and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. They embark on an exciting journey together, grappling with immense perils as they aim to bring Belinda back to Earth. However, a enigmatic force seems to have its own agenda, adding an intriguing twist to their adventure.

In addition, we have the following newcomers for this season: Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, Anita Dobson, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, Jemma Redgrave, and Susan Twist.

The latest series of “Doctor Who” is jointly produced by Bad Wolf, BBC Studios, and Disney Branded Television, airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
