Sadly, he wrote this new section just before his passing, ensuring that the legacy of “it’s a small world” continues to enchant guests around the globe.

Beginning July 17th, The Mouse House has revealed a significant alteration. From this date forward, both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will incorporate a fresh element into the finale of “it’s a small world” ride. This addition will include a new verse of the iconic “it’s a small world” song, penned by Richard Sherman prior to his passing in May 2024. Gregg Sherman, Richard’s son, explained that this new verse aims to highlight the idea that there is more that unites us than separates us, further reinforcing the message of unity and harmony encapsulated within the song.

In that particular scene, the melody won’t change. However, the words sung at the end of the ride have been updated to these new ones:

In a harmonious connection of spirit and thought, Mother Earth binds us all together.

Across the expansive, magnificent continents we dwell on,
When we stand united, our hands intertwined, it becomes clear:

Disney is commemorating this fresh tune and its esteemed composers by releasing a special 70th Anniversary edition of “it’s a small world” vinyl. Enthusiasts can now pre-order their copies or obtain them at the Disney Music Emporium when it becomes available on July 18, 2025. Additionally, you’ll be able to stream the revamped “It’s A Small World” song on various digital platforms.
