Dino Crisis Breaks Free from PlayStation Premium

As a gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the release of ‘Dino Crisis‘ and ‘Resident Evil Director’s Cut’ on PlayStation is a dream come true. These games were staples of my childhood, and I fondly remember countless hours spent navigating through dark corridors and dodging ravenous dinosaurs.

Starting in October 2024, Sony’s PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers were granted the opportunity to play the classic survival horror game ‘Dino Crisis’. Originally, this game was only accessible to Premium members. But as of November 26, 2024, ‘Dino Crisis’ is now up for sale by all PlayStation users, meaning you no longer need a subscription to access it.

Making these games accessible now means a wider group of people can enjoy them, as they were once exclusive to Premium subscribers. Notably, ‘Resident Evil Director’s Cut’, another classic PS1 survival horror game, is now available for independent purchase too. Both titles go for £7.99 each.

The addition of ‘Dino Crisis’ to the PlayStation library has sparked excitement, particularly among fans hoping for a resurrection of the franchise. A Capcom survey conducted in June 2024 found that ‘Dino Crisis’ is the series fans are most eager to witness making a comeback.

Although there’s interest in it, Shinji Mikami, the creator of the series, has shown some doubts about another ‘Dino Crisis’ game. In an interview with Eurogamer, he pointed out that Capcom’s ‘Monster Hunter’ series, which features dinosaurs, has effectively filled the market for games featuring these creatures, making it challenging to bring back ‘Dino Crisis’.

If you’re keen on experiencing or re-living these timeless games, you can now buy ‘Dino Crisis’ and ‘Resident Evil Director’s Cut’ from the PlayStation Store.
