Who is Garret Dillahunt playing in Lanterns?
In the “Lanterns” series, Garret Dillahunt’s character, William Macon, is portrayed as a contemporary cowboy type. He’s a man with a strong sense of self-righteousness and a penchant for conspiracy theories. Beneath his friendly and calculated exterior lies a hidden aggression driven by his relentless ambition.
In the show, it’s widely believed that actor David Dillahunt takes on the role of the antagonist, and some fans are even guessing he could be the character known as the Black Hand. Additionally, it has been confirmed that actor Jason Ritter will portray his on-screen son, Billy Macon.
Comic book character Oliver Queen has a son named Connor Hawke, while his son on the Arrowverse show is called William Clayton, who is also known as Billy.
Garret Dillahunt teases Green Arrow on social media
Actor Garret Dillahunt shared what appears to be a Green Arrow storyboard, possibly crafted by comic book artist Seth Adams.
In another post, Dillahunt appears to share an image of himself dressed as Green Arrow, using the phrase “Ollie Ollie oxen free,” which is a nod to the character’s real name, Oliver Queen.
So what’s going on?
It’s plausible that the actor is either joking with fans or genuinely cast as James Gunn’s Green Arrow. Here’s a possibility: The characters unveiled for the Lanterns series might be undercover names. Some fans speculate that the latest casting announcement of actor Paul Ben-Victor in Lanterns could actually represent Atrocitus.
If Garret Dillahunt is indeed portraying Green Arrow in the series, it’s clear that he isn’t the antagonist of the story. Given the circumstances, my hunch is that much like Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre, Oliver Queen might be disguised or operating covertly within the series, investigating the murder in this small town. If these rumors are correct, it would be intriguing to see Green Lanterns collaborate with Green Arrow. That would surely make for an exciting twist, not to mention a fantastic development!
James Gunn’s Lanterns Series Drops in 2026 – Here’s What We Know
James Gunn has announced that the series titled Lanterns is slated for release in early 2026, but the specific date has yet to be disclosed. This DCU production will span eight episodes. Chris Mundy serves as showrunner, while Damon Lindelof and Tom King collaborate on writing and executive producing duties.
In this production, Kyle Chandler portrays Hal Jordan, with Aaron Pierre stepping into the role of John Stewart. Kelly Macdonald assumes the part of Sheriff Kerry, who is rumored to be Hal Jordan’s love interest. Poorna Jagannathan appears as a character named Zoe, potentially John Stewart’s romantic partner. Nathan Fillion reprises his role as Guy Gardner, continuing from Gunn’s ‘Superman’, set to hit theaters on July 11th.
Ulrich Thomsen plays the character Sinestro, while Paul Ben-Victor has been revealed as Antaan – an alien driven by a strong desire to reveal the truth and seek retribution against those who harmed his kind. Driven by a relentless and intense hatred for the law, he is resolute in delivering justice according to his own standards.
The narrative revolves around John Stewart, a fresh recruit, and Hal Jordan, an experienced Green Lantern. They join forces to probe into a homicide that transpires in the core of America, which appears to be intertwined with a more sinister secret.
