Digimon Story: Time Stranger – How to get Digi-Eggs and Spirits

Digimon Story: Time Stranger lets you collect and battle with hundreds of different Digimon. A key part of the game is evolving and sometimes even devolving these creatures. You can evolve them in many ways, like combining two Digimon through DNA Evolution or using form changes. Armor Evolution and Spirit Evolution are two of the more unique evolution methods available.

Armor Evolution and Spirit Evolution are special processes that transform Rookie Digimon into powerful forms known as Armor Digimon. These evolved forms can range in strength from Champion level all the way up to Mega level or even beyond. Because of their power, adding Armor or Spirit Evolved Digimon to your team is a great strategy, particularly when you’re starting out or in the middle of the game.

Armor and Spirit Evolution become available as you progress in the game, and require Digi-Eggs and Spirits to use. This guide explains how to obtain these items and what you need to do to unlock the ability to evolve your Digimon in these ways.

How to unlock Digi-Eggs and Spirits – Digimon Story: Time Stranger

You’ll need to play through the game’s story for a bit before you can get Digi-Eggs and Spirits. We’ll share some minor story details below to explain how to unlock them, so be warned if you want to avoid spoilers!

You’ll be able to unlock Digi-Eggs and Spirits once you reach the Factorial Area in the game. This industrial zone is the third major location you’ll explore, and it’s guarded by Vulcanismon, one of the Olympos XII.

After completing all the story sections in this area, come back once you’ve beaten Vulcanusmon. Then, you can find him at the bottom of the Factorial Area – use the elevator near the entrance to get there. He’ll be able to make items for you, like Digi-Eggs and Spirits, but you’ll need to bring him the necessary materials first.

Once you progress further in the game, you won’t be able to speak with Vulcanusmon anymore. However, a Guardromon in the Factorial Area will handle his tasks while he’s occupied.

Digi-Eggs and Spirits crafting requirements – Digimon Story: Time Stranger

To trade for Digi-Eggs and Spirits, you’ll need to collect various items and move discs, most of which are available in shops throughout the game. However, the food items needed for the Human Spirits of Light and Flame are unique – they can only be found in the human world. If you haven’t already, it’s best to grab these in Shinjuku early in the game, before traveling to the Digital World, otherwise you’ll have a long wait before you can get them.

  • Digi-Egg of Reliability – Crystalline Structure Model x10, Tidal Stream I 
  • Digi-Egg of Hope – Brown Texture x10, Holy Light I 
  • Digi-Egg of Light – Rusty Iron Texture x5, Comet Hammer I 
  • Digi-Egg of Miracles – Immortal Egg, Digi-Jewel x3
  • Digi-Egg of Destiny – Immortal Egg, Safety Guard 
  • Human Spirit of Flame – Barbeque Skewer Set x4, Wolkenapalm I 
  • Beast Spirit of Flame – Digimeat x5, Ignition Flare I 
  • Human Spirit of Light – Fruit Tart x3, Saint Knuckle I 
  • Beast Spirit of Light – DigiApple x5, Crush Blade I 

Creating each Digi-Egg and Spirit costs 10,000 yen, and you can only make each one once. Once you have them, they stay in your inventory forever and aren’t used up when you use them to evolve a Digimon.
