Diego Luna Talks K-2SO’s Return and How ANDOR Season 2 Ties Into ROGUE ONE

As a hardcore Star Wars enthusiast who’s been through more than one Death Star trench run, I can hardly contain my excitement for the second season of Andor! Ever since that tantalizing teaser at D23, I’ve been counting down the days to next year when this epic saga unfolds on Disney+.

Looking forward, the highly anticipated Star Wars project of 2025 might just be the second season of Andor, debuting on Disney+ next year. At D23, Diego Luna recently unveiled a sneak peek for this upcoming season of Andor and shared some intriguing details with Entertainment Weekly. One exciting revelation is that Alan Tudyk will reprise his role as the witty droid from Rogue One, K-2SO. According to Luna, once Andor season two comes to a close, viewers will see Rogue One in a whole new light. Here’s a summary of what he shared:

In “Rogue One,” you’ll understand why K-2 becomes so crucial and how he ends up being such an essential character for the Rebellion. After watching season two, viewers might perceive a different version of the film. Knowing the events that led to K-2’s presence will change the way scenes are interpreted. It will offer a fresh perspective on “Rogue One,” not just for K-2, but also for numerous other characters. I believe it’ll be quite intriguing!

Diego Luna proposes that Disney could leverage the second season of Andor as a promotional tool for a re-release of Rogue One. He expressed his belief that viewers would have the chance to watch season two first, followed by the film on a large screen with plenty of popcorn and friends. Essentially, he’s volunteering as Disney’s marketing team! The second season of Andor spans over four years, connecting directly to the events of Rogue One. In essence, it’s both a prequel to a prequel (Revenge of the Sith) and a sequel to another prequel. Regardless, we’re excited for season two, which is set to premiere next year.
