The court proceedings involving Sean “Diddy” Combs have been postponed once more. The initial selection of the jury, originally scheduled for the first week of May, has now been rescheduled for the upcoming weeks. Initially, the federal hearing was set to commence after May 12th. In the latest developments, it’s been reported that the rapper has hired a jury consultant to analyze the potential jurors’ profiles.
With lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos representing Combs in court, they suggested that any objections or arguments could be tabled until the following week if any juror shows signs of hesitation or discomfort.
Instead, the prosecutors suggested in the Southern District of New York that due to the trials being rescheduled to May 12, they might request a one-hour extension for the hearing.
12 jurors and 6 alternates make up the present jury panel. Just as the court was about to start the trials, defense and prosecution raised concerns at the eleventh hour. Judge Arun Subramanian has scheduled the opening statements for the case to commence at 9:00 AM on Monday morning.
Simultaneously, Combs stands accused of crimes such as racketeering, assault, inappropriate behavior with minors, sexual assault, and facilitating prostitution. However, he maintains his innocence by pleading not guilty to these charges.
As per earlier reports, it’s expected that Cassie Ventura, the ex-girlfriend of the rapper, will testify against Combs. The reason for this is that she alleges instances of rape and sexual assault during their decade-long relationship. Furthermore, three other individuals are also set to testify against the musician, claiming similar incidents.
The federal trials are expected to go on for weeks.
